Raising capital is a complex process, and over time many recognised standard practices have developed to address issues that consistently arise. The Venture Capital investor is very familiar with these, as he deals with them on a regular basis. To a business owner or a management team, however, for whom this is typically a one off process, there is a steep learning curve. In this environment, decision making can be very challenging. Simon Freethy, who founded the Freethy Partnership, has more than 17 years of experience in Venture Capital, and can help the management of a business navigate their way safely through the capital raising process.

Simon is currently a Non Executive Director of Golley Slater Group, a UK marketing services business, and Finance Director of Cyrus Audio, a leading Hi Fi manufacturer.

Simon Freethy was previously Chief Executive at Illuminator PLC, an AIM quoted internet and technology investment house. Prior to that he was a partner at Phildrew Ventures, the UK arm of UBS Capital, the private equity business of UBS. Simon has experience of sourcing, structuring and completing private equity deals ranging from start ups and development capital through to MBOs and public to privates.

Having worked as an investor and manager of funds, Simon has a detailed understanding of the inner workings of the industry and can therefore provide invaluable help to a business in negotiating a successful and fair deal. The Partnership also offers other strategic and corporate consultancy services, and we have a network of specialists in other areas that we use when required.

Simon started his career in management consultancy with A T Kearney and has an Engineering Degree and a Masters in Management, both from Oxford University.
